In 1904 the Wahstao Mission was founded, run by Miss Reta Edmonds and Miss Jessie Munro. There was lots of work to be done at the missions, and the staff list grew. Then in about 1908 two women, Miss Weekes and Miss Ella McLean of Wahstao, formed a second mission, called Kolakreeka, which was about a mile or so north of Smoky Lake.

Till sometime in 1906 the Wahstao mission horse was one named Sam, but apparently he had a habit of lying down at inopportune times. Miss Weekes told the Missionary Outlook, November 6, that the horse was sold to a young farmer who had lost his team, and they purchased a horse named Maud.
