The Blackfoot

The Blackfoot Confederacy was composed of three nations.

The Blackfoot, or Siksika, were the most northerly group of the Blackfoot confederacy.

The second group was the Bloods or Kainai.

And the most southerly group was the Peigan. The Peigan can now be divided into two groups, the northern Peigan living in Canada and the southern Peigan living in the USA, but this is an artificial division of the single group. Americans sometimes refer to the Peigan as Blackfeet, and to the confederacy as the Blackfeet Confederacy.

The Blackfoot Confederacy was allied with the Sarcee.

The Blackfoot were a plains people and used to roam the lands, using dogs to pull their travois. They acquired horses from their enemies, the Snake People, around 1730, thus ending "the dog days".
