Andruchow, Leon

On January 21, 1993, Mr. Leon Andruchow of Edmonton, formerly of Warspite, passed away at the age of 78 years. Survived by his 1 son Bill (Rose-Marie) Carson of Sherword Park and 1 sister, Tillie Andruchow of Warspite, also numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife Eleanor in 1971 and 4 brothers, Steve, Mike, Peter and Joe. Prayers were held Monday, January 25 at 7:30 p.m. at Park Memorial Chapel, 9709 - 111 Avenue.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 26 at 10:00 a.m. at Park Memorial Chapel. Reverend J.L. Cordeau officiated with interment in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. In lieu of other tributes, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, #305, 10240 - 124 Street, Edmonton, T5N 3W6 or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta 10985-124 Street, Edmonton T5M 0H9. Cromarty, Henry

On June 24, 1995, Mr. Henry Cromarty of Smoky Lake, passed away at the age of 71 years. He is survived by one sister, Stella of Tofield, Alberta. Predeceased by his parents, Christie and Bill; one sister, Velma; five brothers, Louis, Ear, Stanley, Harvey and Norman.

Funeral Service Wednesday, June 28 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Church in Smoky Lake. Reverend Jim Shortt officiating with internment in Asphodel (Pakan) Cemetery.

Hassey, Stanley

On September 8, 1993 Mr. Stanley Hassey of Vilna passed away at the age of 71 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Rose; 2 sons and 1 daugheter, Stanely Jr. of Vilna, Richard and his wife Johanne of Vilna, and Linda Fenerty of Vilna; 6 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mrs. Eugenia Lupul and Sister Lucille Hassey, both of Edmonton; also numerous relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Anastasia Hassey. Prayer Service was held Sunday, September 12, at 7:00 p.m. at the Stry 75th Anniversary Hall, Stry. Funeral Service was held Monday, September 13 at 10:30 a.m. at the Stry 75th Anniversary Hall, Stry. Pastor F.R. Upham officiated with interment in the Pine Knoll Cemetry, Vilna. Father Loren Kubin

Father Loren Kubin of the Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Church, serving Smoky Lake, Boyne Lake, Spedden, Stry, Downing, Edwand, Bellis and Vilna died early Saturday morning at the University Hospital in Edmonton after a lengthy illness. He was 41. Father Kubin had served the area for 12 years.

Prayer service will be held Tuesday at 7:30 in Smoky Lake at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. in the Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Church in Vegreville.

 Lysenko, Kate

On THursday, July 10, 1980 Miss Kate Lyseyko of Edmonton, formerly of Vilna, passed away at age 59 years. She is survived by her loving mother Mrs. Tillie Lyseyko of Vilna, 2 brothers & 3 sisters: William of Edmonton, Harry of Grande Centre, Mrs. Anne Ruhl of Edmonton, Mrs. Violet Williamson of Edmonton and Mrs. Pamela Melnychuk of Vilna; also numerous nieces & nephews. Prayers were held Sunday, July 13 at 8:00 p.m. at the Ukrainian Catholic Church, Vilna. Funeral Services were held on Monday, July 14 at 10:00 a.m. at the Ukrainian Catholic Church, Vilna. Rev. Fr. Peter Letwyn celebrated Requiem Mass with interment in the Church cemetery.

 

Malayko, Bill J.

On Thursday, June 29, 1995, Mr. Bill J. Malayko of Andrew, Alberta passed away at the age of 77 years after courageously battling lung cancer since 1981.

He will be sadly missed by his loving family - his devoted wife, Pearl; his daughter, Chris and his son-in-law, Ian. He is also survived by his sisters, Mary W. Semeniuk, Jean (Alec) Roshko and Lillian Trefan, all of Edmonton. Those of you who knew Bill will remember him as a man of few words, which he more than made up for by the beautiful music he played on  his tsybaly (dulcimer).

Funeral Service Tuesday, July 4, 1995 at 10:00 a.m. at Evergreen Funeral Chapel, 16204 Ft Road (1/2 nuke east of Manning Freeway on 167 Avenue and 1/4 mile south on the Old Fort Road). Jerry Melnyk officiating with interment in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Memorial Service Tuesday, July 4, at 2:00 p.m. at the Andrew Community Centre in Andrew. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cross Cancer Institute c/o Alberta Cancer Foundation, 6th Floor, 9707 110 Street, Edmonton T5K 2L9.

Rusko, Mike

On November 6, 1986, Mr. Mike Roshko of Waspite passed away in the George McDougall Memorial Hospital, Smoky Lake at the age of 73 years.

Survived by his loving wife, Katie; two sons and one daughter, John and his wife Elizabeth of Smoky Lake, We and his wife Pat of Edmonton, Marianne and her husband Dennis Sawchuk of Fort McMurray; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Dora and her husband John Kyca of Edmonton; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Wasyl and Maria; sister, Annie Andruchow.

Prayers Sunday, November 9 at 8:00 p.m. at the Holy Ascension Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Smoky Lake. Divine Liturgy Monday, November 10 at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Ascension Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Smoky Lake. Very Reverend Father L. Kubin will officiate with internment to follow in the church cemetery.

Starchuk, Harry

On December 2, 1986, Mr. Harry Starchuk of Smoky Lake passed away at the age of 60 years. Survived by his loving wife, May; one daughter, Patty of Smoky Lake; six stepsons and one stepdaughter, Dale and Leonard of Calgary, Edward of Kamloops, B.C., Robert, Alex, Ken and Donna of Edmonton; one brother and five sisters, Tom of Edmonton, Lena Dolhan of Spirit River, Kay Cote of Medicine Hat, Rose Tutty of Blackfalds, Mary Shapka and Loreen Brick of Hamilton, Ontario. Funeral Service Friday, december 5, 10:00 a.m. at the Ukrainian National Hall, Smoky Lake. Right Reverend P. Vlodek and Reverend G. Easson officiating with interment to follow in the Russo Orthodox Church Cemetery at Pakan. In lieu of other tributes, donations may be made to the Alberta Lung Association.

Suel, Grace

On December 10, 1993, Mrs. Grace Suel of Vilna passed away at the age of 72 years. She is survived by 1 daughter and 1 son, Paulette Handbury of Vilna and George (Cheryl) Suel of Priddis; 1 step-daughter and 1 step-son, Yvette (Pete) Nielson of Prince George, B.C., and George (Marion) Suel of Prince George, B.C.; 5 grandchildren, Gordon (Katie) Suel, Shelley Tremblay, Kathleen Suel, Donald Suel and Lisa Suel; 1 great-grandson, Steven Suel; and numerous step-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband George Suel on October 8, 1992 and her parents, Leonard and Ruth Love. A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 16 at 2:30 p.m. at the Vilna Cultural Centre, Vilna with Reverend Carol Gunn officiating. Cremation has taken place.
