Michael Tomyn Provincial Judge Michael Tomyn is the province judge for the area. He started working as a lab technician in Urainian City, then switched to City Services Athabaska for 3 years, before it became better known as Syncrude. He later went back to University to earn a Bachelor of Arts Degree, then a Degree in Education. Five years of teaching followed, then back to the U. of A. for a Law Degree. Mr. Tomyn has practiced law in Edmonton for 7 years as a partner in Smith, Tomyn, Gawiaski and Parkatti. This was a general law practice with a little bit of everything being done. On June 1, 1978 he was appointed a provincial court judge. When court is in session Judge Tomyn is empowered to rule on Small Claims Court, Criminal Court Juvenile Court, infringements of the Provincial Legislature, the Public Health Act, Highways Act, Liquor Control Act, the Electrical Act and the many other acts under the Provincial Statues of Alberta.
