John W. Radomsky and Ruth Lawford

John Radomsky was the son of Wasyl and Elena Radomsky, who came over from the Ukraine in 1904. John grew up near Smoky Lake and attended Kolocreeka Mission School and Toporoutz School. He received his teaching certificate from Camrose Normal School, and then began his teaching career at Smoky Lake. He married Ruth Lawford, a school friend and daughter of Dr. Lawford, and she gave up her job at The Standard Bank. Her leaving the bank was noted in the Edmonton Bulletin article on the Women's Insitute meeting.

He died at a young age from what appears to have been complications of mitral heart disease secondary to rheumatic fever. After his death Ruth took their only son, Hugh, and moved to Edmonton. Hugh became a Rhodes  Scholar and ultimately a well known law professor. Ruth eventually was married again, to a man named Warren Dahl, and they had three sons.
