Webmaster's Wishlist

Interested in helping out? There's lots you can do to help this website grow! Contributions of historical information, money for the purchasing of archives materials or volunteer time typing articles in would be truly appreciated!

First and foremost, I appreciate contributions of stories, pictures, written documents, family trees, and explanations about events.

Do you have pictures taken during the 50s and 60s? Can you remember what the 60s were like in Smoky Lake?

Do you have old diaries or letters to share?

Are you willing to tell us about your experiences growing up in Smoky Lake?

Do you know what happened to the descendents of the first Ukrainian immigrants? Do you have information about where they came from or where they went?

Do you have Ukrainian recipes to share? Or Ukrainian folktales? What were the children's stories that you were told growing up?

Second, I appreciate financial contributions, which are put towards purchasing pictures and articles from the Archives. Pictures and most articles from the Glenbow museum cost me $10 to put online. Material from the Alberta Provincial Archives costs $25 or more. Anyone interested in sponsoring the purchase of material would be gratefully acknowledged both on the contributors page, and together with the material sponsored. Businesses could consider this an advertising opportunity!

I am looking for people to sponsor the cost of putting online the following:

  1. Baptismal records from the time of George McDougall. These include many famous names including Whitfords, and Livingstones.

  2. The Lieutenant Governor's letter to Chief Pakan.

  3. Pictures of the McDougall family.

  4. Pictures from the Gavinchuk collection.

  5. More writings of John McDougall.

Third, but no less important, I'd welcome volunteers to help type in newspaper articles. If you have access to the computer, email and could pick up a bundle of newspapers from the Smoky Lake Signal I would appreciate your help. No web programming skills needed, as the articles could be emailed to me so I could work with the hyperlinks and integrate them into this site.

If you are interested in helping out with any of these things, please contact me!
